Sovereign Council Vice President Bids Farewell to Egyptian Ambassador

The Sudanese Vice President of the Transitional Sovereign Council, Malik Agar, affirmed, upon receiving the Egyptian Ambassador to Sudan, Hani Salah, on the occasion of the end of his term, the appreciation of the Sudanese government and people for Egypt’s supportive stances during the war. He stressed that these stands, “reflected Egypt’s deep respect for the will of the Sudanese people and its belief that the stability of Sudan is the stability of the entire region.”
Agar delivered a lengthy speech on Friday evening to bid farewell to Ambassador Hani, in which he said that the phrase “Egypt and Sudan are one people in the Nile Valley” was never “a political slogan or a protocol phrase uttered on occasions, but rather a reality proven by time before words, and confirmed by actions. The two peoples have shared the burdens of this period in the spirit of brotherhood forged by geography and cemented by history.”
The Vice President of the Sovereign Council added that “honoring Ambassador Hani Salah is not only a personal tribute, but also a message of gratitude and appreciation to the Arab Republic of Egypt – its leadership, government, and people – especially since they stood with Sudan during one of its most difficult periods, when hardship and anxiety were intertwined, and the Sudanese people sought refuge. They found in Egypt an open home, not closed borders, and received within a family, not as strangers.”
According to a press release issued by the Transitional Sovereign Council’s media office, Agar commended Egypt’s stance on the crisis in Sudan, describing it as “clear and consistent since the outbreak of the crisis, when Egypt affirmed that what is happening in Sudan is an internal issue, and that the Sudanese people have the right to reach a solution that preserves their state, its unity, and its sovereignty.” He noted that the Egyptian Embassy “continued to fulfill its mission and never severed ties with Sudan, and was the first diplomatic mission to return to Sudan in May 2023, in a practical message confirming that relations between our two countries are built on presence, trust, and partnership.”
