Intense Efforts by Sudan’s Mission in Geneva to Mobilise Humanitarian Support
Geneva – Sudanhorizon
Sudan’s mission at the European headquarters of the United Nations in Geneva has engaged in an intensive communication campaign with humanitarian organisation leaders to mobilise the necessary support to meet the urgent humanitarian and medical needs of those affected by floods and heavy rains in the country.
According to Sudanhorizon’s follow-up, the ongoing meetings with key humanitarian organizations, including the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA), Doctors Without Borders, and the International Committee of the Red Cross, are crucial in our efforts to address the humanitarian crisis in Sudan.
In this context, Sudan’s permanent representative to Geneva, Ambassador Hassan Hamid Hassan, met with the President of the International Committee of the Red Cross at the end of the week.
During the meeting, the ambassador briefed the international official on the country’s overall humanitarian, security, and political situation. He requested the International Committee to double its efforts and increase its humanitarian interventions under these circumstances, handing over a list of urgent humanitarian and medical needs to the organisation’s president.
In response, the President of the International Committee of the Red Cross reaffirmed the organization’s commitment to doubling its efforts in Sudan. This unwavering support is invaluable and will greatly assist those affected, including internally displaced persons and refugees, during these challenging times.
