Sudan’s Minister of Energy, Engineer and Advisor Al-Muatasim Ibrahim Ahmed, revealed the ministry’s plan to enhance the efficiency of the national electricity grid and rehabilitate the reservoirs of Roseires Dam, Sennar Dam, Merowe Dam, and Jebel Aulia Dam to increase their production capacity, in addition to developing thermal power generation stations and expanding clean energy projects.

Speaking before a meeting of the Economic Development Sector at the Council of Ministers today, chaired by Minister of Finance and Economic Planning Gibril Ibrahim, the Energy Minister explained that the plan also targets the expansion of the electrical interconnection project with the Arab Republic of Egypt, increasing transmission capacity from 75 to 300 megawatts, alongside modernization of transmission networks to reduce technical losses and improve supply efficiency.

Regarding oil sector projects, the minister said the plan aims to attract investments in petroleum through offering vacant oil blocks for investment, increasing production in existing oil fields, operating the Khartoum Refinery at full capacity, and expanding storage facilities to help ensure stable petroleum supplies across the country.
