5,874 Medical Practitioners Take Professional Oath in the Presence of the Health Minister

More than 5,874 medical practitioners took the professional oath on Saturday before representatives of the National Council for Health Professions, in the presence of the Federal Minister of Health, Dr. Haitham Mohammed Ibrahim. The event was held at the Royal Palace Hall in Omdurman under the slogan “Enhancing Efficiency and Innovation in the National Health System.”

Addressing the ceremony, the minister expressed his appreciation for the medical workforce, praising their vital role in delivering healthcare services and emphasizing that human resources represent the cornerstone of the health system. He noted that health professionals have been at the forefront of reconstruction efforts and have contributed effectively to the “Battle of Dignity,” despite the challenges facing the country, commending their resilience and dedication.

The minister also praised the role of the National Council for Health Professions, stressing the importance of coordination with the ministry and adherence to laws and professional ethics. He explained that the event included the oath-taking of more than 5,874 practitioners across 16 state-level sub-windows and 11 external centers, with new states such as South Kordofan joining, and with all states of Darfur expected to be included soon.

The minister delivered several key messages, most notably that this step marks the beginning of a new professional journey grounded in competence, knowledge, and ethical conduct, stressing the importance of professional behavior in the health sector. He also affirmed the ministry’s efforts to ensure stability for medical personnel and called on state governors to appoint more healthcare workers, highlighting their role in sustaining the health system and preventing its collapse during the “Battle of Dignity.”
