USD 11 Million Contract Signed to Rehabilitate Al-Halfaya Bridge

Member of the Transitional Sovereignty Council and Head of the Higher Committee for Preparing the Environment for the Return to Khartoum State, Lt. Gen. (Engineer) Ibrahim Jaber Ibrahim, on Sunday witnessed the signing of a contract for the maintenance and rehabilitation of Al-Halfaya Bridge, which connects the cities of Omdurman and Khartoum Bahri. The ceremony was attended by Sovereignty Council member Dr. Nuwara Abu Mohammed, a number of ministers, the Governor of Khartoum, and heads of subcommittees of the Higher Committee.
The first contract was signed by Itqan for Engineering Consulting and Services, while the second was signed by IBC Construction Company, with the Roads and Bridges Authority of Khartoum State as the project owner.
Khartoum State Minister of Infrastructure and Transport, Engineer Abdulwahid Abdelmunim Abdelaziz, explained that the contracts were signed with Sudanese companies and national expertise to carry out the civil and engineering works, in addition to consultancy services for supervision, design follow-up, and testing.
Minister Abdulwahid stated that the total cost of the project amounts to approximately USD 11 million, covering both engineering and consultancy works. He noted that the project’s implementation period is estimated at nine months, starting from the date of signing the contract.
