US Secretary of State Marco Rubio has confirmed that the US State Department’s next move would be towards the Sudan with regard to stopping the war and achieving peace.
On the sidelines of the signing of the peace agreement between Rwanda and the Democratic Republic of the Congo, under US sponsorship and facilitation and Qatari support, from inside the Colin L. Powell Treaty Room in Washington, Friday, Rubio said that his senior advisor for African affairs, Mussad Boulos, would focus attention on Sudan after he has completed the agreement between the adversaries from Congo and Rwanda.
According to the US State Department website, Rubio addressed his advisor at the signing ceremony:
And again, I do want to thank everyone here in our Africa Bureau and at the Department of State, and once again, our superstar there, Mr. Boulos. What do you want to do next after you’re done with this? ‘’ he wondered.
To which Senior Advisor Boulos replied: Sudan. Sudan.
And Secretary Rubio added ‘’ Sudan, yeah. Very important. Actually very, very important, and you’re very involved in that as well. So, what are you guys doing this weekend, Qatar? You guys want to work a little, huh? Yeah, we are grateful to all of you. Thank you. Thank you.’’
