UNICEF: Medical Aid Delivered to Kauda, South Kordofan

Khartoum – Sudanhorizon
The United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) on Sunday announced it has successfully delivered medical supplies to Kauda, the headquarters of the Sudan People’s Liberation Movement-North (SPLM-N), in South Kordofan.
On August 24, a UNICEF convoy arrived in South Kordofan for the first time since October 2024, with the aid expected to benefit 120,000 vulnerable people.
UNICEF said on its account in X platform that life-saving health supplies have finally reached Kauda, one of the most difficult-to-reach areas in the country.
It noted that the convoy, consisting of two tractors, arrived after a long and challenging three-day journey.
It explained that the aid delivery to Kauda is part of UNICEF’s cholera response, and that 15,000 people are expected to benefit from the treatment supplies.
Kauda, currently under the control of the Sudan People’s Liberation Movement-North (SPLM-N), led by Abdelaziz Al-Hilu, can only be reached via rugged mountain roads and from South Sudan.
Some 63,000 children in South Kordofan suffer from acute malnutrition, including more than 10,000 who suffer from severe acute malnutrition.
Many areas in South Kordofan are experiencing challenging humanitarian crises, including severe shortages of medicine and food supplies due to the dual blockade imposed by the SPLM-N and the Rapid Support Forces on Kadugli and Dilling, the largest cities in South Kordofan state.
