UNICEF Executive Director Applauds Sudanese Government’s Cooperation

The Executive Director of the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF), Catherine Russell, applauded the great cooperation she receives from the Sudanese government and relevant institutions, which contributed to facilitating the performance of her duties. She stressed the organisation’s keenness to participate in everything that would overcome the challenges and difficulties facing children in Sudan, especially with regard to nutrition and school dropout rates.

In a significant development, the Chairman of the Sovereignty Council and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, Lieutenant General Abdel Fattah Al-Burhan, held a crucial meeting with the visiting Executive Director of UNICEF, Catherine Russell, to discuss the conditions of children in Sudan. This high-level meeting underscores the importance of the issue and the commitment of both parties to address it.

The Chairman of the Sovereignty Council praised UNICEF’s efforts and cooperation with the government to care for Sudan’s children.

The Acting Undersecretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Hussein Al-Amin Al-Fadhel, elaborated in a press statement on the fruitful discussion held during the meeting. He highlighted the positive outcomes of UNICEF’s initiatives, such as the successful care for children in conflict areas and the organization’s efforts to facilitate the return of the displaced to their homes.
