U.S. State Department: Recapture of Republican Palace a Significant Event

Washington – Sudanhorizon
The U.S. State Department described the Sudanese Armed Forces’ recapture of the Republican Palace on Friday morning as a significant event that the U.S. administration is closely monitoring.
In response to a question about the palace’s recapture and its importance, State Department spokesperson Ms. Tammy Bruce stated in press remarks early Saturday morning: “I think the world—most of it—should be watching this situation, and it does seem to be a significant event. But we are monitoring the situation and are aware of it.”
According to the press remarks published on the U.S. State Department’s website, Ms Tammy Bruce confirmed that the Sudanese Armed Forces have indeed retaken the presidential palace in Khartoum. She added that the ongoing fighting in Khartoum highlights the dire consequences of the conflict for the Sudanese people and that her country continues to urge the warring parties to cease hostilities and facilitate the safe and unimpeded movement of life-saving humanitarian aid.
