U.S. Sanctions on Goni, Hemetti’s Brother

Washington – Sudanhorizon
The United States has imposed sanctions on Goni Hamdan Dagalo, the brother of Rapid Support Forces (RSF) leader Mohamed Hamdan Hemetti, for ‘leading efforts to arm the RSF’ and perpetuating the war in Sudan.
Matthew Miller, the spokesperson for the U.S. State Department, said in a tweet on Platform X, seen by The Investigator: ‘We are sanctioning senior RSF leader Goni for purchasing weapons to continue the devastating war in Sudan.’
Goni has emerged as the most prominent economist in the Dagalo family and the RSF. He possesses vast financial wealth and manages several companies worth billions of dollars.
Miller added: ‘We will continue to impose costs on those fueling this conflict. The RSF must stop its attacks in El Fasher and other areas.’
Since May, the RSF has been launching attacks on the city of El Fasher, the capital of the Darfur region in western Sudan, with 139 attempts, disregarding the international and regional community’s calls for the militia to cease these attacks.
