Supreme Committee for Currency Exchange and Replacement Announces Currency Exchange in Gezira State in August

The Supreme Committee for Currency Exchange and Replacement held its 28th meeting today, on Wednesday, chaired by Sovereignty Council member and Assistant Commander-in-Chief Lieutenant General Ibrahim Jaber Ibrahim, with the attendance of the Attorney General and the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Culture, Information, and Tourism.
The meeting discussed arrangements related to the currency exchange process in Gezira State, scheduled for next August, after reviewing the status of banks operating in the state and the technical, security, and logistical arrangements for the exchange process, particularly the opening of bank accounts for citizens and the simplification of related procedures.
The meeting discussed the progress of the work of the Emergency Room Supervisory Committee and heard the reports submitted, according to a press release issued by the Transitional Sovereignty Council Media Office.
Ms. Samia Al-Hadi, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Culture and Information, explained that the meeting heard a report on the networking process between banks, which is 77% complete, noting that the process is proceeding according to plan.
She added that the Central Bank of Sudan confirmed the completion of all arrangements related to the electronic exchange and payment process in Al-Jazeera State, and that the state’s banks are currently more than 66% ready.
