Sudan’s Sovereign Council Chairman Receives Ugandan Presidential Envoy, Reaffirms Commitment to Strengthening Bilateral Relations

The Chairman of Sudan’s Transitional Sovereign Council, General Abdel Fattah al-Burhan, reaffirmed Sudan’s commitment to strengthening and expanding its relations with the Republic of Uganda in a manner that serves the shared interests of both countries and their peoples.

The remarks came during his meeting on Saturday with Ambassador Joseph Ocwet, Director of Uganda’s External Intelligence Organization and special envoy of President Yoweri Museveni. The meeting was also attended by the Director General of Sudan’s General Intelligence Service, General Ahmed Ibrahim Mufaddal.

The Ugandan envoy conveyed President Museveni’s greetings to the Chairman of the Sovereign Council and emphasized Uganda’s strong commitment to supporting efforts aimed at achieving peace and stability in Sudan.

For his part, Ambassador Joseph Ocwet reaffirmed Uganda’s firm opposition to the establishment of any parallel entities to Sudan’s legitimate government. He stressed his country’s full support for Sudan’s sovereignty, territorial integrity, and security, underscoring Uganda’s commitment to promoting stability in Sudan as a key factor in strengthening peace and security across the wider region.
