Cairo – Sudanhorizon

The Sudanese Embassy in Cairo issued a statement on Sunday, urging all Sudanese nationals residing in Egypt to carry their identification documents and ensure their validity at all times, in addition to carrying their residency cards issued by the relevant authorities in the Arab Republic of Egypt.

In its statement, the embassy stressed the need for asylum seekers registered with the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) to make sure that their UNHCR cards are valid and to contact relevant Egyptian authorities through UNHCR for securing or renewing official residency cards.

The embassy emphasized that this notice is issued to ensure the safety of Sudanese nationals and to regulate their legal residency status within Egyptian soil, thus guaranteeing their access to available facilities and avoid any irregularities.

Meanwhile, the Sudanese Embassy in Cairo expressed its deep gratitude to Egypt, its leadership and people, for the ongoing support and facilities provided to Sudanese nationals resident in the country during these exceptional circumstances.

The embassy clarified that it welcomes all inquiries through its official social media pages or via the Consular Affairs and Community Section at the embassy headquarters in New Cairo. It affirmed its continued efforts to expedite the issuance of passports and all necessary identification documents for Sudanese nationals who require them.

The embassy concluded its statement by urging citizens to continue their usual cooperation, which contributes to facilitating consular services and safeguarding the rights of the Sudanese community in Egypt
