Sudan’s Ambassador to Washington: We Expect Good Outcomes from Trump’s Visit to the Region

Sudan’s Ambassador to Washington, Mohamed Abdullah Idris, expressed optimism about potential positive developments concerning Sudan in light of President Trump’s ongoing visit to the Gulf. He referenced statements made by Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman during the U.S.-Gulf summit, in which the Crown Prince said: “We will continue our efforts to resolve the crisis in Sudan through the Jeddah platform, which enjoys joint Saudi-American sponsorship.”
Ambassador Idris added: “We expect good things,” in the context of his remarks to Sudanhorizon news site regarding his expectations from President Trump’s visit to the Gulf region and its potential impact on the file of the Sudanese war.
In the same vein, a diplomatic source who spoke to Sudanhorizon ruled out any imminent breakthrough in the Sudan file. He explained that regional countries, including the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, are currently engaged with other issues that take top priority in the Middle East—such as the situation in the Palestinian territories, particularly Gaza, as well as developments in Syria, Lebanon, Yemen, and Iran.
