Sudan’s Ambassador to China Discusses Technology Transfer with Chinese Agriculture Ministry

Sudan’s Ambassador to China, Omar Issa Ahmed, met on Thursday with Wu CangXue, Acting Director General of the International Cooperation Department at China’s Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs, at the ministry’s headquarters in Beijing to discuss ways of strengthening agricultural cooperation between the two countries.

The discussions focused on reactivating joint projects in agricultural technology transfer, capacity building, agricultural extension services, and investment, in support of Sudan’s recovery, reconstruction, and agricultural development efforts.

The ambassador emphasized the importance of the agricultural sector within the framework of the strategic partnership between Sudan and China, expressing Sudan’s desire to benefit from Chinese expertise and technology while encouraging Chinese investments in crop production, livestock, and agro-industrial sectors.

The two sides also discussed the need to reactivate the joint ministerial committee and organize a Sudanese-Chinese agricultural forum aimed at expanding opportunities for cooperation and investment, according to Sudanese Radio correspondent in China, Osama Mokhtar.

For his part, the acting director general expressed China’s appreciation for its longstanding historical relations with Sudan, affirming the ministry’s readiness to continue coordination with the Sudanese embassy and relevant Sudanese institutions in order to advance agricultural cooperation toward broader horizons.

He added that China would study the proposals presented in a practical manner that contributes to agricultural development, food security, and the achievement of mutual interests.

At the conclusion of the meeting, both sides reaffirmed their commitment to continued coordination and consultation during the coming phase in order to strengthen the Sudanese-Chinese partnership and elevate agricultural and technical cooperation to more advanced levels.
