Sudanhorizon Publishes the Statement Delivered by the Minister of Justice and Head of the National Human Rights Mechanism on the occasion of International Human Rights Day
Sudanhorizon– Follow-ups
Today, December 10th, we stand to commemorate |the International Human Rights Day, a day that is not merely a celebration, but a renewal of our commitment and an unwavering reaffirmation of the principles from which humanity sprang: the principles of inherent dignity and the inalienable rights of every individual.
We do so while our nation is going through its darkest and most difficult times; the ink with which the Universal Declaration of Human Rights was written is almost dry in the face of the innocent blood being spilled on our sacred land.
Celebrating International Human Rights Day is a painful reminder of the aggression our country has endured, supported by the Abu Dhabi government. This aggression has resulted in grave and horrific violations against unarmed civilians, witnessed by the entire world.
Our armed forces, other regular forces, joint forces, and supporting forces are fighting today in defense of this nation, its existence, and its sovereignty. They are defending the dignity of the Sudanese people, who have been subjected to the most heinous forms of violations and external aggression, directly supported by the Abu Dhabi government. The UAE government has used terrorist militias and mercenaries whose ideology is nothing but destruction and murder. Since April 15, 2023, they have committed—and continue to commit—crimes against humanity and genocide against the Sudanese people. All these crimes have been perpetrated systematically and characterized by absolute barbarity and savagery.
Genocide, ethnic cleansing, and the targeting of women, children, the elderly, and displaced persons in the most horrific ways are not mere violations; they are crimes against humanity, committed in cold blood, with blatant pride, and as eyewitness testimony to a moral collapse that cannot be ignored or forgotten.
Our people’s right to live in peace has been transformed into a right to defend themselves, their honor, and their property, and, above all, their homeland—its soil, identity, civilization, and heritage stretching deep into history. This is a sacred right guaranteed by international law and humanitarian conventions.
The Ministry of Justice and the judicial institutions are working today, more than ever, as the legal shield and moral guarantor of this nation. While our heroes defend the land with rifles, we defend the principles of justice with fairness and the law.
Our message is clear and unwavering: we are working to monitor and document all these heinous violations and horrific crimes perpetrated against our people, presenting them in all domestic, regional, and international forums. We will hold the perpetrators accountable before national and international courts, and pursue the supporting states, foremost among them the Abu Dhabi government, before international justice bodies. We are committed to ensuring that the perpetrators do not escape punishment, from the leaders of the terrorist militias to all those who supported, aided, or assisted them in any way.
Protecting the victims and providing them with compensation, legal protection, and psychological support are our top priorities now, especially for women, children, and the elderly who have suffered the most egregious violations. Working to redress the harm done to them is our commitment.
We are working to establish the rule of law, even in the most turbulent times. We will not allow the law to be absent as a result of this aggression, and we will continue working to ensure the swift implementation of justice procedures and the activation of institutions, because the rule of law is the strongest response to terrorism.
On this day, we salute our armed forces, other security forces, and their supporting forces, as well as our steadfast people who confront terrorism in all its forms and barbarity, clinging to their right to life and freedom. Your steadfastness is not merely military resistance, but a cultural, legal, and moral resilience that history will record in letters of gold.
They sought our defeat and humiliation, but thanks to God, the men of our armed forces, other security forces, and their supporting forces, and the resolve of our people, we triumphed over that aggression. This victory will continue, God willing, until these terrorists are eradicated. True victory will be achieved when we bring all these criminals to justice, ensuring fairness for the victims and establishing a state of law that guarantees human rights for all without discrimination or distinction.
We will always remember our commitment that truth and justice will never be defeated by falsehood.
Glory and eternity to our righteous martyrs, a speedy recovery to the wounded, freedom for the captives, a safe return for those missing, and justice and fairness for the victims and their families. Long live our free and dignified country, and our proud and heroic people.
