Sudanese–Qatari Talks to Enhance Cooperation and Promote Sustainable Development

Sudan’s Minister of Finance, Dr. Jibril Ibrahim, held talks with the Director General of the Qatar Fund for Development, Fahd bin Hamad Al-Sulaiti, on ways to strengthen joint cooperation to advance sustainable development priorities.
During the minister’s official visit to the State of Qatar, the two sides discussed a number of issues of mutual interest.
Earlier during the visit, the Minister of Finance met with the Governor of the Qatar Central Bank, with the participation of the Governor of the Central Bank of Sudan, Amina Mirghani Hassan Al-Toum. The meeting addressed ways to support and enhance the distinguished relations between the two countries in the financial and banking sectors, reinforce existing partnerships, and expand promising economic cooperation opportunities, while emphasizing the pivotal role of the banking sector in sustaining these opportunities.
Both sides stressed the importance of building on the historic fraternal relations between the two countries and expanding cooperation to include banking sector reform, digital transformation, cybersecurity, and combating money laundering, in addition to updating the agreements signed between the two central banks.
At the conclusion of the meeting, the two sides agreed to exchange expertise and develop mechanisms for joint coordination between the relevant departments of both banks, with the aim of overcoming obstacles related to financial transfers between the two countries. This is expected to contribute to increasing trade exchange and boosting investment flows between Sudan and Qatar.
