Sudanese Minister of Foreign Affairs and His Iranian Counterpart Vow To Take Relationships Further

The Foreign Ministers of Sudan and Iran affirmed their determination to move forward in strengthening relations between the two countries to achieve the common interests of the two peoples.
This came during bilateral talks between Sudanese Foreign Minister Hussein Awad and his Iranian counterpart Ali Bagheri, following their participation in the inauguration of the new Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian, according to a statement by the Sudanese Foreign Ministry.
During the talks, the two ministers expressed their happiness at the restoration of bilateral relations between the two countries, and agreed to enhance coordination between them in regional and international forums.
The statement said that Foreign Minister Hussein Awad conveyed the congratulations of the Chairman of the Sovereignty Council and the government and people of Sudan to the leadership and people of Iran on the occasion of the success of the smooth transfer of power through free elections that embodied the will of the Iranian people in resorting to the ballot boxes and constituted a model for a democratic approach to be emulated in the region.
The Sudanese Minister also provided an explanation of the situation in his country and the events taking place there.
For his part, the Iranian Minister thanked the Sudanese leadership and people for their interest in what is happening in Iran and expressed his satisfaction with the participation of a high-level delegation in this important occasion. He stressed Iran’s support for Sudan and its follow-up of the events taking place there.
Sudan and Iran recently restored diplomatic relations and the two countries exchanged ambassadors, as the Iranian ambassador presented his credentials to the Chairman of the Sovereignty Council in Sudan last week.
