Sudanese Military Commander Announces the Continuation of Military Operations in the Northern Part of the Capital
Khartoum – Sudanhorizon
A Sudanese military commander announced the capture of an area north of the Sudanese capital, Khartoum, declaring it free of the Rapid Support Forces (RSF). Meanwhile, for the second consecutive day, clashes between the army and the RSF continued sporadically in several areas as part of ongoing military operations.
Speaking to his soldiers in a video released by the army’s media, Major General Rukn Al-Nauman Ali Awad, commander of the Al-Kadro military area in the north, said, “We are here in the Azirqab area after completely clearing the Al-Kadro region of the rebellion. We have military tasks to carry out in the coming days after crossing the Al-Halfaya bridge.”
Early Thursday, the Sudanese army successfully executed a crossing of its forces from the Karari and Omdurman bases, located west of the Nile River, to the eastern bank of the river using three major bridges in the capital, including the Al-Halfaya bridge connecting northern Omdurman to northern Khartoum Bahri.
For the first time since the outbreak of the war in mid-April last year, the Sudanese army crossed from Omdurman to Khartoum via the Al-Fatihab bridge.
Military operations continued on Friday in Khartoum Bahri and Al-Jazira State, accompanied by airstrikes from military jets.
Sources speaking to the “Sudanhorizon” news outlet indicated that the military operation aimed to restore army control over the three main cities of the Sudanese capital triangle and to strengthen the army’s presence in Omdurman and Khartoum.
