Khartoum – Sudanhorizon
The Government of Sudan has announced the extension of the opening of the Adré border crossing with Chad for humanitarian aid provided by international relief organizations and agencies. This extension covers an additional three-month period, running from the beginning of October through December 31, 2026.
According to a statement issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Wednesday, the extension comes as part of the Sudanese government’s ongoing efforts to facilitate the delivery of humanitarian aid to affected civilians across Sudan. It also reaffirms the government’s commitment to providing the necessary environment and facilities for humanitarian organizations—in coordination with UN agencies and international, regional, and national bodies—in accordance with national laws and regulations and the provisions of international humanitarian law.
In the statement, the Government of Sudan expressed its appreciation for the ongoing cooperation with the United Nations and humanitarian partners regarding arrangements for the monitoring and oversight mechanism at the Adré crossing.
It also expressed hope that international partners would finalize all necessary administrative and technical arrangements, thereby contributing to the effective organization of the crossing’s operations, enhancing transparency and oversight, and ensuring the smooth flow of humanitarian aid to those in need.
It affirmed that the continued opening of the crossing reflects its commitment to constructive cooperation with the international community and humanitarian partners.
It also reiterated its call for relief agencies and organizations to utilize the available facilities and redouble their efforts to ensure the delivery of humanitarian aid to all those in need in Sudan, in accordance with established arrangements and procedures.
