Sudanese Foreign Minister: Nearly 5 Million Displaced Persons Return Home

On Thursday, the Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Ambassador Mohieddin Salem, addressed a high-level meeting organized by the African Union and the United Nations in New York regarding sustainable solutions to displacement.
The Minister briefed the attendees on the efforts of the High National Committee for Voluntary Return and Reintegration—established by the government to facilitate the return of citizens to their homes and restore basic services in all areas liberated from the scourge of the terrorist militia.
He noted that the return of nearly five million displaced persons to their homes requires a level of international funding commensurate with these numbers, emphasizing the importance of aid moving beyond the emergency relief stage to adopt an approach focused on development and reconstruction.
He also called on international organizations to align with Sudanese state institutions, support their programs, and expand partnerships that have proven successful.
