Sudanese Embassy in Australia Organizes an Academic Diplomatic Dialogue Commemorating Independence Day

The Sudanese embassy in Australia, in cooperation with the International Relations Society at the Australian National University, organized a dialogue session on Monday to commemorate the 70th anniversary of Sudan’s independence.
The session, titled “Sudan and Australia: Dialogue, Cooperation, and Shared Responsibilities in a Changing World,” was attended by a number of postgraduate students and researchers interested in international and regional affairs.
The session aimed to highlight the current situation in Sudan and its implications for Sudanese-Australian relations in light of regional and international developments.
During the session, Sudan’s Chargé d’Affaires in Australia, Ahmed Abdel Latif (Bayoumi) , reviewed the political, humanitarian, and economic developments in Sudan, focusing on the “Government of Hope” peace initiative presented by the Prime Minister to the international community.
The Chargé d’Affaires emphasized the importance of Australia’s support as a mediator in efforts to achieve stability and peace in Sudan and to strengthen international cooperation to address current challenges.
Mr. Gio Tiraditia, Diplomatic Liaison Officer for the University’s International Relations Association, also participated in the session. During his remarks, he addressed the dimensions of bilateral relations between Sudan and Australia, highlighting the importance of partnership in education, capacity building, and humanitarian work, as well as the role of academic institutions in promoting dialogue and mutual understanding.
The session featured a fruitful and interactive discussion, during which students posed questions about the prospects for the success of the Sudanese peace initiative, the role of the international community, and the impact of the situation in Sudan on the Horn of Africa region.
The session concluded by emphasizing the importance of continuing academic and diplomatic dialogue and strengthening communication channels between educational institutions in Sudan and Australia, reflecting a shared sense of responsibility in addressing regional and international challenges.
It is worth noting that the Australian National University is considered one of the oldest and prestigious universities in Australia and the world, renowned for its distinguished academic reputation and high research standards.
