Sudanese Council of Ministers Directs Precautionary Measures in Anticipation of Gulf War Repercussions

Sudanhorizon has obtained details of an important session held yesterday (Thursday) by the Council of Ministers, chaired by Prime Minister Kamil Idris, at its headquarters in Khartoum.

Sources said the council reviewed the exceptional circumstances facing the Arabian Gulf region and directed the relevant ministries to take the necessary precautions in anticipation of the repercussions of the ongoing war there, with the aim of mitigating its negative impact on citizens’ living conditions.

The council also reviewed contacts made by the prime minister with his counterparts in several friendly and brotherly Arab countries, who praised Sudan’s solidarity and support. The council expressed hope that peace and stability would prevail across the Arab region.

The Cabinet emphasized the importance of digital transformation within the framework of e-government and instructed authorities to move forward with announcing public civil service vacancies in a transparent manner, creating fair competition among Sudanese citizens and selecting qualified and experienced candidates for public positions.

The council further stressed the importance of Sudan’s presence in regional and international organizations and called for activating training and capacity-building centers supervised by the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Welfare.

It also directed the Ministry of Education and National Upbringing to begin implementing plans to establish 20 industrial schools across all states of the country, and to activate the committee responsible for Sudan’s participation in regional and international organizations.

In addition, the council instructed the committee of the Supreme Council for Hajj and Umrah to expedite its work and submit its recommendations and final report. The Cabinet also directed the Ministry of Energy to restore electricity to key locations in Khartoum, including the Souq Arabi, the Grand Mosque of Khartoum, the Abu Jinzeer Square bus station, and the city’s main streets.

The Cabinet took note of ongoing preparations for the upcoming Federal Governance Conference and the Social Peace Conference, both expected to be held in the coming period.

It also discussed the need to complete the formation of legal and judicial institutions, particularly the Constitutional Court of Sudan.

The council reviewed efforts by the Ministry of Agriculture and Irrigation and the government of Khartoum State to rehabilitate and restore the Sunut Forest, a historic natural reserve and a recreational area for residents of Khartoum and Sudan more broadly.

Finally, the council was informed by Health Minister Dr. Haitham Mohamed that Sudan has been declared free of the Cholera outbreak, and it commended the efforts made by the Ministry of Health in achieving this outcome.
