Sudanese Ambassador Discusses Rwandan and Chinese Support for Reconstruction in Sudan

Sudan’s Ambassador to Rwanda, Khaled Moussa, met with the Permanent Secretary of the Rwandan Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Chinese Ambassador to Kigali, Gai Wenjie, to discuss strengthening bilateral relations and regional and international issues of common interest.

Moussa and his Chinese counterpart discussed prospects for cooperation between the two countries, emphasizing the importance of the China-Africa partnership based on respect for national sovereignty and the promotion of joint development and investment projects.

He also called for support for Sudan’s reconstruction efforts, in coordination with state policies and the Sudanese Embassy in Beijing. Both sides commended the outcomes of the meeting between the Sudanese Minister of Interior and the Chinese Deputy Minister of Security on the sidelines of the recent IBACO meetings in Rwanda.

For his part, the Chinese Ambassador reiterated his country’s support for Sudan’s sovereignty and peace efforts, affirming China’s readiness to continue supporting reconstruction and infrastructure projects as agreed upon between the two capitals. The two sides also agreed to enhance joint coordination at the regional and international levels and exchanged views on developments in the Middle East and their implications for Africa.

Meanwhile, Ambassador Khalid Musa held a separate meeting with the Permanent Undersecretary of the Rwandan Ministry of Foreign Affairs, briefing him on the political and military developments in Sudan. He noted the resumption of executive functions in Khartoum and called for the reopening of the Rwandan Embassy in Khartoum.

The ambassador also outlined Sudan’s position on the Berlin Conference, urging Rwanda to support his country in regional and international forums.

For his part, the Rwandan official affirmed his country’s support for Sudan’s sovereignty, expressing his hope for achieving peace and for continued coordination and mutual support between the two countries. He also emphasized the importance of developing bilateral relations, building on the significant progress already made in this regard.
