Sudan: Understandings Reached on Transport and Processing of South Sudanese Oil

The Undersecretary of the Ministry of Energy and Petroleum, the Minister in Charge, Dr. Muhiuddin Naeem Mohamed Saeed, revealed that understandings have been reached with a South Sudanese delegation regarding the transport and processing of South Sudan’s oil.

Muhiuddin met with the South Sudanese delegation, led by the Minister of Finance and Planning, the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Petroleum, and a number of South Sudanese technicians, in Port Sudan on Sunday during the annual meeting between the two countries’ petroleum ministries.

Al-Naeem said, “The meeting was successful and concluded with important decisions that clarified some of the issues between the two sides in the petroleum sector.” He emphasized that the meeting was characterized by a spirit of brotherhood and historical heritage between the two countries, in addition to consideration of the two countries’ circumstances and their need for oil. He emphasized the preservation of the special relationship between the two countries, especially in the petroleum sector.

The Minister in Charge explained that it was agreed to continue meetings in both countries, noting that oil work requires a high level of professionalism due to its interaction with international partners in addition to South Sudan.
