Sudan: UN Official Visits National Medical Supplies Fund

The National Medical Supplies Fund received an official visit on Wednesday from a representative of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), Mona Shelita, in her first visit to the country since recently assuming her post. The visit aimed to review workflow and follow up on pharmaceutical supply efforts, particularly regarding tuberculosis and HIV/AIDS control programs.

According to the Sudan News Agency, the visit included a field tour of the warehouses, where Shelita was briefed on storage and distribution systems, supply mechanisms, and the challenges facing operations under exceptional circumstances. She praised the efforts made to ensure the continued availability of medicines.

For her part, Dr. Jamila Badr, Director General of State Affairs Administration, emphasized the importance of strengthening cooperation and joint coordination to enhance the efficiency of the supply chain and ensure sustainable access to medicines in support of the health sector and public service. Dr. Jamila described the visit as a reaffirmation of the strong partnership between the two sides and their shared commitment to improving performance and achieving targeted health goals.
