Sudan “Shield Forces” Reject UK Sanctions on its Commander

Khartoum – Sudanhorizon
The Sudan Shield Forces have rejected the sanctions imposed by the United Kingdom on their commander, Abu Aqla Kikel.
In a statement issued on Friday, the forces’ media office asserted that the decision lacks an objective field assessment and fails to reflect the complexities of the current security situation in the country.
The statement emphasized that the “Sudan Shield Forces” operate as a national force within the state’s military structure, supporting the Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF)in their constitutional duty to protect civilians, preserve state institutions, and maintain stability.
It further stated that the forces have adhered to a disciplined operational approach and maintained full coordination with relevant authorities since their involvement in the national battle against the threats posed by the rebel militia.
The statement also noted that ignoring the documented and serious crimes and violations committed by the militia against civilians and infrastructure leads to unbalanced assessments and undermines efforts to restore security or achieve justice.
The Sudanese Shield Forces emphasized that such decisions will not undermine the cohesion of the home front or affect its readiness, affirming their continued commitment to carrying out their military missions aimed at ending the rebellion and creating the conditions for the return of normal life throughout Sudan.
The forces also reiterated full commitment to international principles for the protection of civilians and relevant laws, stressing that they will continue to work steadily and professionally to protect the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the Sudan, without being distracted by attempts aimed to politically influence the course of events on the ground.
