Sudan Seeks World Bank Assistance to Assess Reconstruction Needs

Sudanese Minister of Finance and Economic Planning, Dr Jibril Ibrahim, disclosed that the government is trying to assess the reconstruction needs across all sectors impacted by the war and expressed Sudan’s desire for World Bank assistance in this endeavour.
This was revealed during a meeting on Saturday with Sudan’s World Bank Country Director, Shiro, held on the sidelines of the annual IMF and World Bank meetings in Washington.
The minister highlighted Sudan’s interest in leveraging the World Bank’s expertise and experience from other post-conflict countries to assist with reconstruction and support Sudan.
The meeting discussed Sudan’s request for World Bank support across critical sectors, including electricity, water, and agriculture, and assistance in rebuilding the education sector through school reconstruction, educational system requirements, and teacher training.
