Ambassador Dafallah Al-Haj Ali Othman, Sudan’s Ambassador to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and Permanent Representative of the Republic of Sudan to the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), headed Sudan’s delegation—on behalf of Ambassador Mohi El-Din Salem Ahmed, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation—to the extraordinary meeting of OIC Foreign Ministers.

The meeting was held at the OIC General Secretariat headquarters in Jeddah on Thursday, February 26, to discuss recent developments related to the expansion of Israeli settlements and the deepening of annexation policies aimed at altering the status and character of the Palestinian territories.

In his address, the Permanent Representative stated that the convening of this extraordinary meeting comes at a critical time marked by escalating illegal Israeli activities intended to expand settlements in the occupied Palestinian territories. He described these actions as a flagrant violation of international resolutions and a challenge to the will of the international community, calling on OIC member states to adopt a unified and firm stance against such violations.

The statement emphasized Sudan’s deep concern over the dangerous developments in the State of Palestine, which aim to undermine all peace initiatives—particularly efforts to achieve the two-state solution that fulfills the legitimate choice of the Palestinian people to establish their independent state with East Jerusalem as its capital. The statement also reaffirmed Sudan’s rejection of the illegal decisions and measures of the Israeli occupation intended to entrench settlement expansion and annexation, fragment Palestinian territories, and impose alleged Israeli sovereignty over the occupied West Bank.

Furthermore, the statement noted that the continued Israeli escalation in settlement activities and the unlawful annexation of Palestinian land constitute a blatant assault on the historical rights of the Palestinian people and pose a direct threat to regional and international peace and security. It stressed the need for effective steps to halt these practices and violations in a manner that preserves Palestinian rights and contributes to restoring justice and balance in the region.

The statement called on member states and the OIC General Secretariat to continue confronting these serious violations against the Palestinian people and the illegal activities aimed at displacing them from their land, by activating all mechanisms provided for within the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation and intensifying action at all levels to clarify and uphold the organization’s position on the matter.
