The Minister of Finance and Economic Planning, Dr. Jibril Ibrahim, is leading Sudan’s delegation to the 2024 annual International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the World Bank Group meetings, which will take place from October 21 to 26 in Washington, D.C.
The meetings will focus on the general assembly, the Development Committee meetings, the International Monetary and Financial Committee (IMFC), and the Financial Committee.
The Sudanese delegation is expected to make some progress in addressing Sudan’s external debt and securing refinancing for vital projects in the sectors of health, education, and humanitarian support through specialised international organisations. On the sidelines of the meetings, the Minister of Finance is scheduled to meet with representatives from various organisations, departments within the IMF and World Bank, and regional financial institutions.
The minister will also hold bilateral meetings with several of his counterparts from the regional and international community to strengthen economic cooperation and develop relations with countries engaged in bilateral cooperation.
