Sudan FM Condemns Militia’s Attacks on Humanitarian Convoys

Port Sudan – Sudanhorizon
The Sudanese Ministry of Foreign Affairs has condemned in the strongest possible terms the terrorist attack by the Rapid Support Militia, Monday, against a United Nations humanitarian convoy in Al-Kuma area, North Darfur State.
The ministry said in a press statement on Tuesday that the attack resulted in the destruction of a number of trucks loaded with aide materials and led to the death of a number of workers, drivers, accompanying guard crew and a number of citizens.
The ministry added that this heinous crime is added to the black record of the crimes of the terrorist militia, that it has been practicing in a systematic manner in grave violation of human values, norms and international laws, especially international humanitarian law, and is an extension of the atrocities that the militia has been committing, including killing of innocent civilians and besieging them in cities, villages and IDP camps, as well as the looting of public and private property, the destruction of public facilities, committing rape and sexual violence and the obstruction of humanitarian relief.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs called on the international community, including governments and organizations, to condemn this terrorist militia for committing this aggression against this humanitarian convoy and to hold it fully and legally responsible, along with its regional sponsor that provides it with arms and funding to continue its crimes and violations that have not been met with the prompt and decisive actions.
The ministry noted that obstructing the delivery of aid to those in need puts civilians at risk of dying from hunger in the areas besieged by the militia, including the city of El Fashir, where the Security Council demanded that the terrorist militia end the siege since June 13, 2024.
The ministry has confirmed that the Sudanese government is committed to cooperating with the United Nations and all specialized humanitarian agencies to ensure that aid reaches all those in need throughout the country.
