Sudan Doctors Network: 28 Civilians Killed in Attack on Mustariha
Khartoum – Sudanhorizon
Twenty-eight civilians were killed and 39 others injured, including 10 women, following an attack by the Rapid Support Forces militia on the area of “Mustariha” in North Darfur State, according to preliminary information received from the region.
The Sudan Doctors Network said in a statement on Tuesday that rocket shelling of the area led to the destruction of the only health center and that medical staff working there were assaulted. A medical worker was also arrested and remains missing to this moment.
The network strongly condemned what it described as the large-scale violation of Mustariha, which resulted in the killing of civilians, spreading fear among residents, and targeting health facilities. This has led to a massive wave of displacement from the area toward nearby villages and settlements amid catastrophic humanitarian conditions.
According to the statement, these attacks constitute a fully fledged crime and a blatant violation of all humanitarian and international laws and conventions that criminalize attacks on civilians.
The network called on the international community to take urgent action to protect civilians displaced by what it described as a systematic assault, ensure the delivery of humanitarian and medical aid to them, and act immediately to halt the violations and hold the leadership of the Rapid Support Forces directly responsible for this incident accountable.
