Sudan Calls on the UN Security Council to Take a Firm Stand Against UAE’s Hostile Activities

Port Sudan – Sudanhorizon
Sudan has urged the United Nations Security Council to take a clear stance against the United Arab Emirates (UAE) for its involvement in supplying arms to the Rapid Support Forces (RSF).
In a statement obtained by Sudanhorizon, the Sudanese Ministry of Foreign Affairs said: “Sudan has supported the complaint it filed with the UN Security Council in March against the UAE, and followed it up with a letter on October 11, 2024, which included new details about the state’s ongoing aggression against Sudan and its people through the terrorist militia.”
The Ministry added: “The letter called on the Security Council to take a firm and clear position against the UAE’s continuous hostile activities against Sudan, which are responsible for the horrific atrocities being inflicted upon civilians. It urged the Council to strongly condemn the UAE’s behaviour and hold it fully accountable under international law for its aggression against Sudan.”
The letter from Sudan’s Permanent Representative to the UN, addressed to the President of the Security Council, revealed images of heavy artillery ammunition boxes bearing the UAE’s name, which the Sudanese Armed Forces had seized after battles in Jabal Moya. Additionally, the letter included details about trucks transporting weapons and ammunition to the militia, registered with Dubai license plates, as well as newly manufactured Emirati medical supplies found in the militia’s possession.
The Ministry stated that the captured items are in the custody of the Sudanese Armed Forces and could be examined by UN experts.
The statement continued: “The letter also mentioned credible reports that the UAE is continuing to recruit mercenaries from several countries to fight alongside the militia in Sudan, a tactic that the UAE has employed in its military interventions in other countries. This is in addition to the financial, logistical, and diplomatic support the UAE provides to the militia.”
Furthermore, the letter pointed out that the UAE treats wounded militia fighters in the Zayed Military Hospital in Abu Dhabi. Photos of several individuals receiving treatment there are attached.
The letter explained that, through these actions, the UAE is no longer an indirect supporter of the militia but has become a key partner on the front lines of the war of aggression against Sudan and its armed forces. It stated that this renders the UAE a rogue state that challenges international law and the UN system, actively seeking to destabilise other nations. The Sudanese letter also accused the UAE of pursuing a colonial project in Sudan based on racial superiority of specific groups, which threatens coexistence and stability in the region.
