Standards and Customs:Partnership in Support of the National Economy

The Sudanese Standards and Metrology Organization (SSMO) and the Sudanese Customs Authority have renewed their commitment to strengthen coordination and integrate regulatory roles during a joint meeting in River Nile State, with the aim of tightening control over goods and supporting the national economy.
Dr. Ahmed Sayed Ahmed, Director of the SSMO sector in River Nile State, emphasized, Saturday, the importance of effective partnerships and institutional work in implementing standards.
The meeting reviewed the capabilities of technical laboratories and their role in testing and quality assurance, which contributes to facilitating customs procedures.
The two sides discussed combating smuggling, especially gold smuggling, through data and information exchange and joint campaigns, strengthening oversight of local products, and standardizing technical procedures.
The meeting recommended activating network connectivity, intensifying coordination, exchanging expertise, and organizing joint awareness programs to enhance the quality system.
