Colonel Ahmed Hussein Mustafa, Spokesman for the Joint Force in Darfur, revealed new details about the violent battle that took place in Al Fashir on Monday, confirming that the Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF), the Popular Resistance, and the Joint Force have achieved “a victory that will be last in history.”
Hussein said in a press statement that the battle was “very huge,” during which the heroes of Al Fashir achieved a great victory against the Rapid Support Militia, the mercenaries, and their supporters.
He added that the militias attacked the city from three direction using 543 combat vehicles, which had been prepared several weeks ago at the Zamzam IDPs camp, which the militia had seized and converted into a military barracks.
He has however stressed that ‘’ our heroes were fully prepared and confronted them with valor, courage, and sacrifice, inflicting heavy losses in lives and equipment on the enemy.” The spokesman reported that 254 militias were killed, 16 combat vehicles were burned, and 34 others, including armored vehicles and two armored personnel carriers, were seized along the three fronts.
He noted that members of the Tahir Hajar and Hadi Idris movements participated in the attack against Al Fashir.
For his part, the head of the Justice and Equality Movement(JEM), Gibril Ibrahim, said in a statement on Monday that the heroes of the SAF, the Joint Forces, and the Popular Resistance fighters had written “a new red page in the annals of glory, with their legendary steadfastness in Al Fashir-El Sultan.”
He pointed out that despite the scarcity of provisions and equipment, the “Lions” fought one of the fiercest battles against “the gangs of the Abu Dhabi regime, who suffered their 227th defeat on the outskirts of the capital of North Darfur.”
Gibril said that Al Fashir, with its miraculous steadfastness in times of hardship, had set an immortal example of steadfastness and dedication, and would be the rock upon which the conspiracies of mercenaries and traitors would be shattered, he stressed.
