Sovreign Council Member: Sudan Will Return Stronger Than Before the War

Lieutenant General Ibrahim Jaber Ibrahim, member of the Transitional Sovereign Council, has inaugurated the buildings of the National Administration for Federal Blood Transfusion Services and the National Central Blood Bank (STAC) today. He also witnessed the launching of the distribution of a fleet of mobile blood donation vehicles to the states.

Addressing the ceremony, which was attended by the Federal Minister of Health, Dr. Haitham Mohamed Ibrahim, the Undersecretary of the Ministry, directors of general departments, and students from the University of Health Sciences, Lieutenant General Jaber, Assistant Commander-in-Chief, has expressed his pleasure that the inauguration coincided with the 70th anniversary of the country’s independence.

He offered prayers for the martyrs of Sudan, wishing a speedy recovery to the wounded and the safe return of prisoners of war and missing persons.

Jaber pointed out that the National Blood Bank represents a fundamental pillar for localizing medical work in the field of blood transfusion and preservation.

He added that it is a significant addition to the capabilities of the Ministry of Health, possessing advanced equipment that allows for the safe and efficient testing, analysis, and transfusion of blood to cover all states of Sudan.

The member of the Sovereignty Council and head of the Higher Committee for Preparing the Environment for the Return to Khartoum State, has furthermore reiterated the leadership’s determination to ensure that Sudan returns stronger and better than it was before the war, thanks to the resolve of its loyal sons and daughters who are working diligently in all fields to restore stability.

He also commended the efforts and sacrifices of healthcare workers, directing the Khartoum State authorities to allocate a plot of land for the construction of a new, larger building for the Central Laboratory, equipped with the latest technologies.

For his part, the Federal Minister of Health, Dr. Haitham Mohamed Ibrahim, praised the sacrifices of the Armed Forces and the supporting forces in protecting the homeland, commending the efforts of the medical professionals who stood by the Armed Forces throughout the liberation struggle.

He explained that the project launched today was an extension of the “Lifeline” project, which began after the outbreak of the war following the destruction of blood banks in the states.

Dr. Haitham added that the project is led by a cohesive team that enjoys significant support from partners in the United Nations and friendly and brotherly countries in providing essential blood supplies. He also noted the qualitative development in acquiring medical equipment, supported by the Federal Ministry of Finance, which has spent more than 20 billion Sudanese pounds to support this project.

The Minister also reviewed the contributions of the Sovereign Council and the Ministry of Finance in acquiring the latest blood testing equipment, the first of its kind in the country , in addition to 20 fully equipped mobile blood donation units.

He emphasized that the opening of the National Blood Transfusion Administration buildings marks the true beginning of the return of federal and state Ministry of Health institutions, following the national reactivation of the Medical Supplies Fund a few weeks earlier. He also announced that STAK central laboratory will reopen shortly.
