Sources to Sudanhorizon: Government Ministries to Return to Khartoum in January

Sudanhorizon – Nazik Shammam

Government sources have revealed that ministries and government agencies will return from the administrative capital, Port Sudan, to Khartoum State next January.

The sources told Sudanhorizon that ministries and government bodies have received a directive to return to their designated headquarters in Khartoum State instead of the temporary administrative capital, Port Sudan, in the coming January.

The government sources indicated that all ministries are working to finalize their arrangements to return to their approved offices in Khartoum, and employees are expected to be informed to prepare for the return within the coming few days.

The sources explained that maintenance work in some government buildings in Khartoum has been partially completed, and operations will continue with the same post-war staffing levels until maintenance is fully completed.

Last week, the Council of Ministers directed several ministries to begin preparations for relocating from the temporary administrative capital, Port Sudan, to the capital, Khartoum, in implementation of the Prime Minister’s directives.

The directive included the Ministries of: Justice; Agriculture and Irrigation; Minerals; Livestock and Fisheries; Infrastructure and Transport; Digital Transformation and Communications; Education; Higher Education and Scientific Research; Human Resources and Social Welfare; Religious Affairs and Endowments; and Culture, Information, Antiquities, and Tourism.
