Significant Decline in Crime Rates in Khartoum
Khartoum – Sudanhorizon
Authorities in Khartoum State have confirmed a noticeable decline in crime rates, noting that the implementation of security plans has led to the arrest of large numbers of suspects and the seizure of quantities of narcotics, resulting in a significant improvement in the overall security situation.
The State Security Committee, chaired by Khartoum Governor Ahmed Osman Hamza, reviewed today (Thursday) the overall security plan for the state during its regular meeting.
The criminal security report indicated that the decline in crime was due to the wide security deployment and the implementation of preventive measures, in addition to joint operations that successfully seized quantities of narcotic substances.
The meeting stressed the importance of intensifying awareness campaigns on the dangers of drugs through exhibitions and activities in areas where students and youth gather, as well as in dormitories, alongside the production of specialized awareness programs. The meeting also directed the swift re-establishment of the “Anti-Narcotics Council” to develop action plans and programs targeting this issue.
In a related context, the meeting commended the campaigns carried out by the Traffic Police and the Military Police to ضبط المخالفات, and to enforce the decision of the Chairman of the Sovereignty Council requiring the impoundment of any vehicle without license plates, which has led to a significant decline in this phenomenon.
The committee also praised the results of the “Joint Security Sweep,” involving all regular forces, which resulted in the seizure of 1,850 various violations including electrical equipment, weapons, and drugs, in addition to the arrest of 396 suspects.
In the same vein, the security cell carried out 45 operations that led to the arrest of 64 suspects and the seizure of weapons and vehicles, while the State Security Authority apprehended a number of collaborators.
The committee urged citizens to fully comply with curfew hours and directed security forces to strictly enforce the curfew decision.
