Khartoum – Sudanhorizon

The Director General of the Sudanese Electricity Company, Abdullah Ahmed Mohammed Ali, revealed that the company has completed the rehabilitation and operation of more than 25 power substations within the transmission and distribution networks in Khartoum, Omdurman, and Khartoum North (Bahri).

In a statement carried by the Sudan News Agency (SUNA) on Tuesday, he explained that maintenance work covered hundreds of kilometers of transmission lines.

He noted that, following the liberation of the areas, the company began restoring its services according to a clear priority plan, starting with the maintenance and operation of vital facilities, foremost among them water stations and hospitals.

He confirmed the restoration of electricity supply to the Bahri Water Station and a number of hospitals, including Ahmed Qasim, Al-Safiya, Al-Ban Jadeed, East Nile, Al-Raqi, and Bashair hospitals.

He also pointed to the continuation of maintenance and technical review work aimed at reopening service offices and outlets, noting that a large number of them have already been reopened in Khartoum State.

The Director of Electricity said:

“Transmission towers have been installed along all transmission lines, ensuring the sustainability of grid connectivity and continuity of electricity supply, in addition to bringing a number of substations into service that feed industrial zones and production areas in central Khartoum, Soba, and Omdurman.”

He confirmed the return of the Soba substation to service in late last month following the completion of maintenance works, explaining that it is the main feeder for a large number of factories. He added that the operation of the Soba substation was preceded by major technical works that culminated in the commissioning of several important substations, including Al-Kabashi, Wad Babakir, Hilla Koko, and Bant substations.
