Qatari Medical Support for the Sudanese Health Sector Arrives

A high-level coordination meeting between the Sudan Federal Ministry of Health and the Qatar Red Crescent Society discussed ways to enhance cooperation within the framework of Qatari support for the Sudanese health sector. This support consists of 140 truckloads of life-saving medicines, 70 of which have already begun arriving via sea bridge, in preparation for distribution to various states across the country according to needs.
Participants in the coordination meeting included the Federal Minister of Health, Dr. Haitham Mohamed Ibrahim, the Director of the Qatar Red Crescent Society office in Sudan, Dr. Salah El-Din Al-Daak, the Director of the National Medical Supplies Fund, Dr. Badr El-Din Al-Jazouli, and several other ministry and fund officials.

During the meeting, the Minister of Health praised the ongoing support provided by the State of Qatar, emphasizing that this assistance is a fundamental pillar in strengthening the health system’s ability to meet current challenges.
He also expressed the appreciation of the Sudanese government and people for these fraternal initiatives, wishing security and stability for both the Sudanese and Qatari peoples, and indicating their readiness to provide all necessary facilities for receiving the substantial medical aid shipment.

The Minister explained that the inventory of medicines was prepared by Ministry of Health teams in coordination with the Qatar Red Crescent, and that the Medical Supplies Corporation would be responsible for receiving the entire shipment and overseeing its distribution to ensure it reaches beneficiaries throughout Sudan.
For his part, Dr. Salah Al-Din Al-Daak affirmed the Qatar Red Crescent’s commitment to supporting the health sector in Sudan, noting that the organization has already begun delivering the shipments that have arrived at the Medical Supplies Corporation’s warehouses, which currently number 21 truckloads.
He called for enhanced coordination among relevant parties to ensure the successful implementation of joint projects contributing to the recovery of the health system and improving the level of services provided to citizens.
This meeting is part of a series of coordination meetings aimed at strengthening the health response and mitigating the effects of the crisis through effective partnerships between national institutions and international donors.
