Prime Minister Dr. Kamil Idris on Monday affirmed the state’s commitment to providing all necessary requirements to restore the University of Khartoum and other Sudanese universities to their former standing, enabling them to reclaim their prestigious positions in global university rankings.
Dr. Idris inspected the University of Khartoum accompanied by the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Dr. Ahmed Mudawi Moussa, and the Vice Chancellor of the University of Khartoum, Dr. Imad El-Din Al-Tahir Ardeib. He reviewed ongoing efforts to rehabilitate and reconstruct the university following the extensive destruction and systematic damage inflicted by the Rapid Support Forces militia.
The Prime Minister stressed the state’s commitment to meeting all reconstruction needs, noting that the University of Khartoum is one of the most important educational beacons not only in Sudan but across the Arab and African worlds. He described the university’s return to its main campus as “the return of the soul to the body of the Sudanese nation.”
For his part, the University’s Vice Chancellor, Dr. Imad El-Din Al-Tahir Ardeib, along with the deans of the faculties, welcomed the Prime Minister’s visit and presented a detailed report on the university’s efforts to sustain the educational process during the war. He explained that academic activities had resumed from the Faculty of Education complex in Omdurman and confirmed that arrangements are underway to restart operations at all university campuses in the near future.
