PM and Turk Discusses Peace Initiative and Water Projects in Eastern Sudan

Sudanese Prime Minister Dr. Kamil Idris has reaffirmed the government’s commitment to achieving peace in the country soon, stating that 2026 would be the year of peace.
This came during his meeting Monday evening in Khartoum with Nazir Muhammad al-Amin Turk, head of the Supreme Council of Beja Nazirs and Independent Chieftains.
In a press statement, Nazir Turk explained that the meeting discussed ways to strengthen social cohesion and achieve peace in the country, reiterating their support for the Sudanese government’s peace initiative as a purely national initiative that contributes to achieving security, stability, and peace in the country.
Nazir Muhammad al-Amin Turk clarified that eastern Sudan will remain a pillar of the country’s stability and that Sudan will not be harmed from the east, emphasizing the unity of the people of eastern Sudan and their community leaders.
Turk indicated that the meeting discussed development projects in the east of the country, foremost among them the Port Sudan-Sinkat-Haya water project from the Nile. He noted the Prime Minister’s keenness to implement this project, adding, “This is good news we bring to our people in eastern Sudan.”
