Khartoum – Sudanhorizon
A joint coordination meeting between Khartoum State and the Committee for Retrieving and Collecting Destroyed Vehicles, chaired, Sunday by the Executive Director of Khartoum State, Abdul-Moneim Al-Bashir, has revealed that more than 8,000 looted vehicles have been retrieved in Khartoum State and impounded at 38 locations. The chassis numbers of each vehicle have been recorded and digitized for uploading to the committee’s electronic platform for looted vehicles, facilitating the handover process to the owners.
The Committee for Retrieving and Collecting Vehicles Destroyed by the War in Khartoum State stated that it has launched a service to identify missing vehicles through a Facebook page called “Looted Vehicles.” This service is part of its efforts to provide a “service to locate looted vehicles belonging to citizens and public and private institutions” and return them free of charge upon producing documentation proving ownership.
The committee indicated that it launched its work during the previous period by withdrawing and collecting cars from the main streets, the establishments and adjacent areas and around government headquarters after the liberation of Khartoum, noting that the next phase of its work will include markets and neighborhoods in addition to the squares, stressing its readiness to receive reports regarding the locations of destroyed vehicles from all parties and citizens in preparation for withdrawing them.
