Oslo Institute Shortlists Sudan Emergency Response Rooms for 2026 Nobel Peace Prize

The Peace Research Institute Oslo (PRIO) has announced its shortlist of candidates for the 2026 Nobel Peace Prize, with Sudan’s Emergency Response Rooms included for the second consecutive year.

In its brief annual statement on the organizations and institutions considered among the leading candidates for the Alfred Nobel Peace Prize, the institute said its 2026 shortlist reflects the views of PRIO’s director on the candidates he considers most deserving of the award, based on his independent assessment.

The statement nevertheless noted that the shortlist attracts significant international attention and contributes to shaping the ongoing discussion about potential and deserving recipients of the prize.

PRIO Director’s updated 2026 Nobel Peace Prize shortlist includes:

1. Mykola Kuleba and Save the Children
2. Sudan’s Emergency Response Rooms
3. Committee to Protect Journalists
4. International Court of Justice and International Criminal Court
5. International Space Station

It is worth noting that the winner of the 2026 Nobel Peace Prize will be announced at 11:00 a.m. Central European Time (CET) on Friday, October 9.
