Northern State Governer Slams RSF for Attacking Meroe Airport

The Governor of Northern State, Abidin Awad Allah, said that the rebellious Rapid Support Forces militia’s desperate and failed attempt to target Meroe Airport today (Friday) is evidence of their loss of direction and an attempt to cover up their ongoing defeats on various battlefronts.

The Governor confirmed the vigilance of the armed forces, the popular resistance, and the supporting forces and their readiness to repel any aggression or sabotage attempts.

On Friday, the Governor visited the headquarters of the state General Intelligence Service, where he observed a seizure carried out by the Intelligence Service at the Khanaq Mining Market. The service confiscated a large quantity of thorium mills, coal, nitrates, cyanide (which affects the environment), and explosives without permits.

The Governor praised the General Intelligence Service’s role in protecting the national economy and safeguarding the people of the state.

For his part, Colonel Ahmed Abdel Qawi, head of the Anti-Smuggling and Tax Evasion Committee in the state, explained that based on information gathered, the Economic Security Authority, under the supervision of the Director of the General Intelligence Service in the state, issued orders to deploy a force to the Khanaq Mining Market. The operation succeeded in apprehending the violators and seizing the items which were presented for display.

Colonel Abdel Qawi confirmed coordination with the prosecution to file charges against the violators.

Meanwhile, the Director of the Sudanese Company for Mineral Resources in the state, Abdel Rahman Al-Nadif, confirmed that the company will continue supporting the state’s Anti-Smuggling and Tax Evasion Committee in its efforts to combat illegal gold extraction practices and protect the state’s revenues from gold proceeds.
