New Sudanese Foreign Minister Receives Call from Egyptian Counterpart

Sudan’s new Foreign Minister, Ali Youssef, received a phone call on Monday from his Egyptian counterpart, Badr Abdel Aaty, congratulating him on his new appointment.
According to the official website of the Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Minister Abdel Aaty emphasized the special nature of Egyptian-Sudanese relations. He praised the deep historical ties between the two brotherly nations, both at the governmental and popular levels.
The two ministers reviewed the latest developments in Sudan’s internal situation, with Minister Abdel Aaty expressing Egypt’s full support for Sudanese institutions. He stressed the importance of respecting Sudan’s sovereignty and the unity and integrity of its territory, affirming that Egypt will continue to stand by Sudan in this challenging and critical historical juncture until it overcomes this difficult phase.
The ministers also exchanged views on several regional issues and reaffirmed the importance of water for both Egypt and Sudan as downstream countries.
The conversation reflected complete alignment in the two countries’ perspectives regarding water security, considered a matter of existential importance for both nations.
