Muhi al-Din Salem Sworn In as Minister of Foreign Affairs

Ambassador Muhi al-Din Salem Ahmed was sworn in on Friday in Port Sudan as Sudan’s new Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, before the Chairman of the Sovereignty Council and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces. The ceremony was attended by Prime Minister Kamil Idris.
In a press statement following his swearing-in, the new foreign minister congratulated the Sudanese people on the major victories achieved by the armed forces, other regular forces, and mobilized volunteers. He affirmed their commitment to leading Sudanese diplomacy with a message of peace to all those who wish to pursue peace.
The minister added: “The world and the region are witnessing major changes, and we will adapt our methods and approaches in line with these changes, with an open mind and understanding, until we achieve the aspirations of the Sudanese people.”
He stressed that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs will continue to defend Sudan in regional and international forums, noting that conspiracies against the country are not new and have long preceded the current war. He asserted that Sudan will ultimately prevail, regardless of the enemies arrayed against it.
