Minister of Information Receives Recommendations of Workshop to Amend Sudan’s Press Law

The Minister of Culture and Information, Khaled Al-Aiser, received the final recommendations of the workshop to amend the Press and Publications Law of 2009 in Port Sudan, the capital of the Red Sea State in eastern Sudan.

In his speech at the two-day closing session, the Minister said, “Our approach at the Ministry of Information is to provide broad spaces for journalistic work and open the doors to anyone who wants to practice journalism.”

He continued, “We want to open the doors to everyone who wants to practice the profession with complete freedom. We want to provide broad spaces for media freedom, with a legal ceiling to ensure it is regulated.”

The Minister of Information announced upcoming meetings with media professionals who did not participate in the workshop to present their views.

He added, “We are open to everyone with an opinion, and we have carefully chosen the slogan for this workshop: ‘Media Freedom with Professional Standards.'”
