Minerals Ministry Approves Next Year’s Plan to Strengthen Its Role in the National Economy

The Ministry of Minerals announced the approval of its strategic plan for the year 2026, which aims to bring about a qualitative transformation in the mining sector and enhance its role in the national economy.
This came during the expanded meeting chaired by the Minister of Minerals, Nour Al-Daem Mohamed Ahmed Taha, on (Thursday) in the administrative capital, Port Sudan.
The plan emphasized strengthening monitoring systems through expanding the use of digital technologies to ensure transparency of operations and tighten oversight of production, while working to increase production rates of various strategic minerals.
The ministry stressed the importance of combating smuggling, considering it one of the most prominent challenges facing mineral resources. It confirmed that the plan includes practical measures to curb the phenomenon and protect the state’s gains. The plan also gave special attention to developing local communities hosting mining activities through development and service projects that enhance the positive impact of the mining sector on citizens’ lives.
The meeting witnessed discussions on the plan’s provisions and priorities, where the ministry focused on adopting a strategic approach toward green mining to reduce environmental impacts and ensure resource sustainability, in addition to organizing the traditional mining sector and improving its working environment to strengthen its economic contribution and reduce associated risks.
