Militia Abducts Dozens of Gold Prospectors in West Kordofan
Kordofan – Sudahorizon
The Dar Hamar Emergency Room has accused the Rapid Support Forces militia of arresting 97 young men in the Ayal Bakhit area of West Kordofan State.
In a statement issued on Thursday, the Emergency Room said the forces detained the young men on Wednesday while they were on their way to gold-prospecting areas.
It added: “Despite being subjected to questioning and informing the militia of their destination and their civilian status, they were forcibly taken away on false pretexts, under the claim that they were mobilised fighters.”
The Emergency Room confirmed that the fate of the detainees and their place of detention remain unknown to this moment, heightening fears for their lives. It described the incident as a criminal act that forms part of a new chapter in a series of blatant violations perpetrated by the Rapid Support Forces against the people of West Kordofan.
The Rapid Support Forces exercise full control over West Kordofan State, where they periodically launch attacks on villages for looting, and arrest and torture anyone who objects to such actions.
